When you turn the device on and find a black screen at time it may due to lack of power. In some instances, you may have the device charging but it’s not operating since the power system may be faulty. Most of the instances you will find that it’s the power cable which is faulty hence not charging the device. To test this you can use another power cable to charge the device. At times dust particles on the USB port can affect the charging system of the device. You can wipe out the dirt particles using special compressed air for cleaning such devices.
The other instance which may lead to an unresponsive device is when the device has frozen. Note that even when the device is off it can still freeze. Removing the battery for some time and then you return it back will always fix this problem if not that you can seek this service. For devices which have an inbuilt battery you can soft reset the device by pressing the power button for 5 to 15 seconds depending on the device.
At times the battery could be faulty making it hard to charge and power on the device. The battery in most instances is get damaged when it’s overcharged frequently and also when you do not allow the device to fully charge before you disconnect it from power. In another instance when the battery is drained of power it may not turn on immediately when connected to power but after some time. If the device does not turn on after connecting it to power for some time then the battery could be faulty.

The last alternative should be to factory reset the device. Note that with this you get to wipe out all the was saved on the device to factory settings. This is done by holding the power button and volume button at the same time until you get recovery and boot options.
